Here is the lineup of diesel vehicles making their way to the US in the next 2 years. Some have awesome mileage whereas some are getting no better mileage than a gasser. So I ask, why bring it here? Maybe they can argue the cleaner emissions, but everyone is looking for MPG increase. Anyways, enjoy!
See alll of the rides at the link...ARTICLE HERE Here are some highlights

First new car I ever bought was a small French made diesel hatchback, it would do 80mpg if driven steady and I never saw less than 55mpg if I drove it on WOT all the time.

To bad the steering wheel was on the wrong side !! I wish I could get that kind of milage at WOT !!! Ah, well they put it back on the correct side when they brought them over the English Channel I am talking imperial gallons here btw. It was an amazing little engine, 4 cylinder transverse mounted 1.4 litre. The car was very light, only around 1400lbs which helped a lot with the fuel consumption and performance. When it first came out some economy nuts drove it from Dover in England to Barcelona in Spain, a distance of over 1000 miles on one tankful, 10 gallons, achieving an average of 105mpg. This got it a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the worlds most economical production car. -------------------- Dodge 3500 dual 4x4 quad cab - long box - 5.9l turbocharged cummins HO 600 - 6 speed manual gearbox - Amsoil 4510 predator stage III - Smarty - cat delete pipe - Valair NMU70279-04 Ceramic Button Clutch - 459/842

Anybody seen the write up in Diesel Power page 11, July issue on the 70mpg VW Jetta Hybrid. I was thinking the other day that diesel pickups would be good candidates for Hybrid technology. If you look at a freight train they are actually hybrid diesel/electric!!! There is a diesel engine that turns a generator to make enough elctricity to pull hundreds of thousands of pounds. You think they could shrink it into a pickup.

It would be a crowd pleaser at the AAB if you could get it to work. -------------------- Dodge 3500 dual 4x4 quad cab - long box - 5.9l turbocharged cummins HO 600 - 6 speed manual gearbox - Amsoil 4510 predator stage III - Smarty - cat delete pipe - Valair NMU70279-04 Ceramic Button Clutch - 459/842

Hey guys! New to the site and I know I'm a little late replying to this thread, but Kenworth unveiled a medium duty hybrid truck this year.

Welcome to the site
I wonder if they're using the Eaton technology for that? Seen it a couple of years ago they were working on it. Other truck companies are coming out with it as well I beleave. They have to do something since the only engines they are goin to be able to offer are the cummins and cummins...huh I mean PACCAR engines (same engine different name plate, even has same parts). Kronic -------------------- 2005, 3500, 5.9, Auto, Edge EZ, Quadzilla Boost Fooler, Airaid intake/MIT, CAT delete pipe, silencer ring removed, SRT Hood, Bushwacker Flares, PIAA bulbs, 285/75 17 Hankook Dynamic MT's...
2003, 3500, 5.9, 6spd, Granatelli Chip, Airaid intake/MIT, 4" Turbo Back custom exhuast, silencer ring removed, 285/70R16 Cooper S/T's... RIP In the quest for better economy!!! |

Thanks Guys!! Any chance for some free stuff from NADP for new members Craig!? Haha! I stopped by your booth at the Rocky Mountain Nationals last year. Here is what I found on the Kenworth site. http://www.kenworth.com/2300_med.asp#
